Prior to the VHL meeting, on Wednesday, the First International Symposium on Birt-Hogg-Dube syndrome was held here in the same hotel as the VHL meeting, to take advantage of the fact that so many of the same researchers who study VHL are also studying BHD, another hereditary kidney cancer syndrome. This meeting was funded separately by the BHD Alliance. Forty-five scientists gathered from as far away as Japan to discuss diagnosis and management of BHD.
